Description
Sunsets have always been a comfort to me. Even as a kid, it felt like God always painted me the most breathtaking sunsets on my hardest days. It was a sign to me that my struggle was known and that I was seen.
During my pregnancy, my walks were sacred. They were the foundation for my emotional stability both during pregnancy and after my loss. There is a path by my home that overlooks a small valley and I walked this every day I felt well enough to. This painting is based on a sunset I saw while on the first walk I was able to take after my loss.
Symbolism: The darkness of the path during sunset mimics the darkness I felt at the time. Pregnancy loss envelops you in an unbelievable despair. However, this path was also my lifeline that helped me restabilize my life. For me, this specific sunset was a sign that one day I would be okay again. Sometimes we have to take the first step toward healing. For me that was going outside again. And when we do take that step, God (a higher power) will meet us there.
